🧾 Description:

Vincristine is a vinca alkaloid antineoplastic (chemotherapy) agent derived from the periwinkle plant (Catharanthus roseus). It is used to treat a variety of hematologic and solid tumors.


🚨 Precautions:

  • Neurotoxicity is the most significant concern (e.g., foot drop, tingling, motor weakness)
  • Avoid intrathecal administration → Always label the syringe: “For IV use only – Fatal if given intrathecally”
  • Hepatic impairment may require dose adjustment
  • Constipation is common — use stool softeners/laxatives

📦 Storage:

  • Store refrigerated at 2–8°C
  • Protect from light
  • Do not freeze
  • Diluted solutions should be used within 24 hours if stored properly

  • Report symptoms of tingling, numbness, weakness, or jaw pain
  • Maintain hydration and bowel regularity
