Salicylic acid ointment (3β6%) is a topical keratolytic agent used to treat various hyperkeratotic and scaly skin conditions, such as:
- Psoriasis
- Chronic eczema
- Dandruff / seborrheic dermatitis
- Calluses & corns
- Warts (mild cases)
- Acne (occasionally)
It helps soften and remove the outer layer of the skin (stratum corneum).

- Form: Thick, white to off-white ointment
- Texture: Greasy or semi-solid base (often paraffin or petroleum jelly)
- Route: For external use only
- Concentration: 3% to 6% salicylic acid
