🔹 1. Prescription / Indication:
Betamethasone valerate 0.05% cream is a topical corticosteroid used to treat various inflammatory and pruritic skin conditions, including:
- Eczema (atopic dermatitis)
- Psoriasis (except widespread plaque psoriasis)
- Seborrheic dermatitis
- Contact dermatitis (allergic or irritant)
- Lichen planus
- Insect bite reactions
- Pruritus ani/genital
🔹 2. Description:
- Form: Topical cream
- Strength: 0.05% w/w betamethasone valerate
- Appearance: White to off-white smooth cream
- Route: External use only
- Application: Typically applied once or twice daily, in a thin layer

- Provides rapid relief from redness, swelling, itching, and irritation
- Well-suited for short-term management of acute flare-ups
- Low systemic absorption when used as directed

- Apply a thin film to the affected area and gently rub in
- Avoid overuse, especially on the face, groin, or underarms
- Do not use for more than 7–14 days unless advised by a doctor
- Do not apply to broken/infected skin unless combined with an antimicrobial
- Wash hands after application
- Long-term use or overuse may lead to:
- Skin thinning (atrophy)
- Stretch marks
- Perioral dermatitis
- Steroid acne
- Avoid tight dressings or occlusion unless directed
- Not suitable for infants under 1 year without medical advice
