๐น 1. Prescription / Indication:
Fusidic acid 2% cream is a topical antibiotic used for treating bacterial skin infections, especially those caused by Staphylococcus aureus, including:
- Impetigo
- Infected eczema or dermatitis
- Infected cuts, wounds, and abrasions
- Furunculosis (boils)
- Secondary skin infections due to insect bites or burns

- Form: Topical cream
- Strength: 2% w/w fusidic acid
- Appearance: White, smooth cream
- Route: External use only
- Application: Apply 2โ3 times daily or as prescribed
- May be covered with a non-occlusive dressing

- Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA)
- Streptococci
- Minimal systemic absorption
- Well tolerated, even in children and elderly

- Store at below 25ยฐC (77ยฐF)
- Protect from heat and direct sunlight
- Do not freeze
- Keep tightly closed after use
- Keep out of reach of children
๐น 7. Patient Advice / Counseling:
- Clean and dry the affected area before application
- Apply a thin layer to the infected area
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes
- Wash hands after use
- Do not apply to large areas, broken skin, or under dressings without doctor’s advice
- If symptoms worsen or persist after 7 days, consult a physician
- May cause mild stinging, itching, or rash
- Not effective for fungal or viral skin infections

- To treat localized bacterial skin infections, especially those due to penicillin-resistant staph
- Can be used as monotherapy or with oral antibiotics for deeper infections
