๐ Description:
Clotrimazole 1% Drops is a topical antifungal medication formulated for otic (ear) or sometimes cutaneous use. It contains:
- Clotrimazole 1% w/v โ an imidazole derivative antifungal
Used primarily to treat fungal infections of the ear canal or skin folds.
๐งพ Prescription / Uses:
Indicated for:
- Otomycosis (fungal ear infections), especially caused by Candida and Aspergillus species
- Dermatomycoses of moist areas (when used off-label topically)
Usual Otic Dose:
- 2โ3 drops twice daily for 7โ14 days, or as directed
- Continue for a few days after symptom relief to prevent recurrence
๐ฌ Nature:
- Class: Imidazole antifungal
- Mechanism: Inhibits ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes โ causes membrane dysfunction and fungal cell death
- Broad antifungal activity, especially effective against Candida and Aspergillus

Side Effects (rare):
